Francesc Mesquita-Joanes

Professor of Ecology at the University of Valencia and researcher at the Cavanilles Institute of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology (Spain). He teaches in the degrees of Biology and Environmental Sciences and in the Master’s degree in Biodiversity of this university, mainly in subjects related to biogeography and biological invasions. His research focuses mainly on the ecology and diversity of aquatic communities – coordinating research projects in tropical and Mediterranean environments – and on invasive alien species. He also often collaborates in research on paleoenvironmental changes or evolutionary ecology, where he applies his expertise about a group of small crustaceans, the Ostracoda.
