Professor of the Department of Agricultural Sciences at the Universitat Jaume I of Castelló (Spain) and researcher at the Laboratory of Ecophysiology and Biotechnology (UJI). After obtaining his PhD at the same university, he has carried out postdoctoral stays at the University of California, Riverside (USA), at the Leibniz-Institut für Pflanzenbiochemie in Halle/Saale (Germany) and at the Institut Valencià d'Investigacions Agràries, in Montcada (Spain).
