«Hadrontherapy's aim is not to replace other treatments, but to complement conventional therapies»

Medical physics uses knowledge from fundamental physics and applies to medicine, particularly to diseases such as cancer and those produced by neural disorders such as Alzheimer’s. IFIMED, Institute for Medical Physics located in the Science Park of the University of Valencia, researches on improving accelerators and the image of scanners doctors work with. We interviewed José Bernabéu, Professor of Physics at the University of Valencia and coordinator of the project. Here he explains what medical physics is and what are some of its applications, such as proton therapy.
