Nutrition, diet, and health

Call for papers

Food has become a crossroads between scientific, social, industrial, economic, political, and cultural interests, where the relatively recent science of nutrition occupies a relevant place. Information on food and nutrition is the most searched for on the Internet by users interested in health issues, compared to information related to diagnoses or diseases. This demand for nutrition and health information is met by a highly disparate quality of information, often biased due to economic interests, sometimes contradictory, and not always based on scientific evidence.

In this context of informational noise and need for rigorous information, we propose a monograph on nutrition encompassing studies from very different approaches, from physiology and public health to anthropology and communication. Health professionals and society in general need quality information not only to know the scientific evidence on which dietary recommendations are based, but also to better understand the phenomenon of nutrition and its social, economic, and cultural factors.

This monograph on nutrition is open to original review papers from a wide range of methodological approaches, all related to nutrition and health. Originals will be peer-reviewed by external referees and published in Catalan and Spanish in the quarterly journal Mètode and in annually in English in Mètode Science Studies Journal.
