Created in 1999, the Centre for Marine Research (CIMAR) started operating in 2005, with a partnership between the Santa Pola Town Hall and the University of Alacant. In this centre, in the old rifleman barracks, researchers study and teach on marine ecosystems, their biodiversity and environment. The Tabarca Marine Reserve and monitoring the effects of climate change on our shores are some of the key points of their research. Alfonso Ramos, director of CIMAR, explains theirs goals.
