A reserve of microbial diversity
We visit the facilities of the Spanish Type Culture Collection
The Spanish Type Culture Collection (CECT), one of the services of the University of Valencia, is a public collection of microorganisms with the status of centre for microbial biologic resources.
Mètode TV visited their facilities in the Science Park of the University of Valencia to talk to Rosa Aznar, M. Carmen Macián and Aurora Zuzuarregui. They explain how they obtain and preserve the archaea strains, bacteria, fungi and yeasts with which they work, what are the uses of these microorganisms and what are their current research projects.
