PhD in Biology and is a researcher in the Department of Marine Biology and Oceanography at the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM-CSIC) in Barcelona (Spain). She specialises in phytoplankton ecology. Since 2008, she has coordinated international research on harmful algal blooms within the GEOHAB and GlobalHAB programmes.
